Lumecca is an advanced IPL device designed to target pigmentation and vascular concerns with precision. It delivers concentrated pulses of light energy into the skin to address discolouration and redness at their source. Your dermal specialist will confirm whether it suits your skin type and concerns during your initial assessment.
Lumecca emits pulses of intense pulsed light that are absorbed by pigmented and vascular structures within the skin. The light energy converts to heat, which disrupts the targeted concern while leaving surrounding tissue intact. Following treatment, the skin undergoes a natural healing process where darkened pigment gradually rises to the surface and sheds over the following days.
Lumecca is classified as a minimally invasive treatment. It causes a controlled skin response, including temporary redness, mild warmth, and post-treatment darkening of pigmented spots before they shed. Some patients experience mild swelling depending on the area and concerns being treated. A brief recovery period of several days is typical, and this will be discussed with you during your consultation.
Lumecca may assist in managing a range of pigmentation and vascular concerns for eligible skin types. Your dermal specialist will confirm during consultation whether Lumecca is appropriate for your individual presentation. The concerns below represent common reasons patients explore this sun damage treatment Sydney option.
Lumecca uses a large treatment head area and a high pulse repetition rate combined with a specific wavelength to precisely target concerned lesions. As it provides multiple wavelengths, no lesion is too shallow or too deep to treat.
A strong sapphire cooling tip provides comfort during treatment. Treatment time is reduced due to the large spot size, and results are visible from as early as your first session.
A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected following Lumecca IPL and typically lasts 2 to 24 hours, though it can persist for up to 72 hours. Mild swelling or redness may accompany this.
Brown and red spots will darken for the first several days before beginning to slough off naturally. Do not pick at treated areas. Minor crusting, peppering, or peeling is a common and expected part of the process.
Apply cold compresses for comfort if needed. Keep the area clean and avoid aggressive scrubbing or exfoliation until the skin has fully settled. Avoid direct sun exposure for 3 weeks and apply SPF 30 or higher daily.
Phase 1
Skin is stabilised through calming inflammation and barrier function repair. Some technologies and methods include the Lutronic DermaV, the SDL Glass Skin Method, and controlled chemical support.
Phase 2
Targeted device-based treatments are clinically introduced, spaced and layered. Technologies such as the PicoSure Pro may be used for laser toning, pigment management, resurfacing, and texture improvement.
Phase 3
The focus shifts to refining skin tone, pore quality, and smoothness. This phase may involve the Lutronic LaseMD Ultra alongside SDL's depigmentation protocols.
Phase 4
Structured skin maintenance is designed to help sustain results and support skin long-term. This may include regenerative treatments, periodic laser toning, and hydrating chemical support.
